Grandpa's stories about whaling

This is not a popular theme today, but it's not possible to give you my story without mention whaling because Sandefjord was THE whaling town in Norway (and in the whole world) in the 50's.

My own experience

In 1960 and 1961 I joined the whaling down south at South Georgia, at Husvik Harbour and Grytviken. We left Sandefjord late August 1960 and returned about 9 months later.

I was working at Husvik Harbour most of the time, but this shore station was closed down and we were transferred to Grytviken.

I have collected some photos from my own and others experience, and I hope that at least some of them will interest you. I will also try to tell you the story about whaling, from the beginning and to the end in the 60's.
